Garden Pots - tips from Landshapes
Garden pots are a great way to brighten up patios and decking and can also be moved indoors if you are growing more tender exotic plants. Pots are traditionally used for bedding plants, but more frequently now I see them being used for growing vegetables and fruit, particularly where space is a premium.
Strawberries and tomatoes are a favourite for pot growing and can add a fantastic splash of colour and scent to any area. They can also be used to bring your favourite herbs within easy reach of the back door and can be great for your child to experiment with and to help them understand where food comes from.
Pots can also be used to contain some plants that would otherwise grow too aggressively; mint is a really good example. If left to grow in an open bed, unchecked it will literally take over.
The secret to successful pot growing is to make sure there is good drainage, use good compost, and water frequently in dry weather.
Pots can also be used for creating safe and stunning water features, take a look at our water feature page for some ideas.
